Showham’s Creative Journey: Sculpting in Birkdale and Beyond

Showham’s journey into the world of clay sculpting began at the Birkdale studio, where she joined the beginners’ classes. Her first project—a beautifully crafted head sculpture—quickly turned into a creative experiment as she decided to transform it into a pot.

Although she couldn’t complete it before leaving for Perth, Showham is taking more than just her unfinished piece with her. She’s carrying the techniques and inspiration gained during her time at the studio. Determined to keep sculpting, she plans to find a local supplier in Perth to buy clay and continue practicing the skills she’s learned, such as perfecting ears and hair.

Showham shared her excitement about returning to Birkdale in the future to create more art and deepen her sculpting knowledge. Her story is a testament to how a single creative experience can inspire a lifelong passion.
